I visited NPO Group "SAVE IWATE" in Tohoku area where had Earthquake. Save Iwate is located at mountain side, so they didn't have Tsunami problem..... but there are many victims who moved from Ocean side which had Tsunami and Earthquake. So SAVE IWATE group is there for providing things what victims need.

The space is filled with many stuff (electrical stuff, kitchen stuff, clothing....), victims come there and choose & take.

I like their system like a store, specially for our knitted items. Because they can chose the color they like, they can touch and feel.......

We opened the boxes,

They could not wait! they started to look inside boxes.

the scarves are on the table.

I got some interview from publish companies and news paper companies. They will talk about our charity on their paper and publish magazine.
I will let you know when I see them on the net.

I am finally doing better form jetlag.

I have been trying to publish post, but the computer didn't let me do it somereason for long time.
I finally am able to publish with my computer in Japan!!!

Yes, I am in Japan right now. I have arrived in Japan a couple days ago.
It was very very long trip because of typhoon. the airplane arrived in Japan at the same time as Thyphoon hit in Tokyo. the airplane could not land for long time. I needed to take some train or bus to get my home town, but all transpotation was stopped. so it took 17 hours to get my parents house.

Anyway, I am here in Japan.

All scarves and knitted items for charity have arrived in Japan. It is total 1000 items!!!!!
Everything have sent to NPO group in Tohoku area. I am going to there next wednesday and open all boxes there.

Thank you all who attend this charity. I am so excited in going there and opening the boxes with them.

On March 11, 2011, Japan suffered an historic earthquake and tsunami that left extreme destruction in their wake. Thousands of people died, whole towns were totally crushed, farmlands and water sources were ruined, families were destroyed, and survivors were left without food, water, housing, or clothes. This was a tragedy with effects that will last for decades. Japanese people believe that handmade items are very valuable and special. I am all done designing for my 2nd book!!

Universal Yarn Company liked the garments that I sent them.

I completed last design for my 2nd book last night. I brought the garment and written patten to Editer today.

All designs for 2nd book came out very very nice. the schedule to deadline was pretty tight to finish all 10 designs. But I changed my mind in the progress many times and started over some project. I am so happy that I didn't give up.

I completed 6 designs for my second book. I have 4 designs more to go!
1 design of 4 is almost done ( just need write pattern!!)
Other 1 design has a good idea, just need more yarn and start project.

But I have been looking for stitch pattern for other design for a long time. ( really long time)....
I almost gave up finding the one to match my imagine. I left the coment to Japanese Knitting Designer in America about my situation. She commented back " Did you check your order swatches????? . So next day, I opened big box of my swatches and l looked each swatches. It was so much fun.
so I found the one which I really think I can use for my design.

This new design " Ripples and Waves" is one of my favarite.

I like the garments with something different and fun around neck.

For this design, I pick the scarf looking around neck.

I use lace pattern with sock weight yarn for around neck to make soft looking. Then I use DK weight yarn for Body part to make good knitted fabric.

Also the garments can be worn two ways. with the waves up ( Lace collar wide up as photo above), with the Ripples up (Lace Collar side down).

It is fun design. simple shape, but a lot of stitch pattern in the design.

I have been working new designs for Spring 2011.
I made scarves, front opened garment and 2 felted bag.

The felted bags are new version of "Dots Bag"

unfortunally some of yarns in this pattern are discontinued. so I have to make the patterns with updated yarn.

for new one, I made two different sizes.

one is smaller hand bag with the following color combination.

other one is a larger shoulder bag with the following colors.

the both color combinations are just so pretty.
I cannot up the photos yet.
but will be up in a couple of weeks...
I love these bags, I cannot wait for showing them.

I have been enjoying spending time with my boys while their Summer Break.

They are 10 years old now, so they will not need me anymore sometime soon.

I have been knitting somd designs from my book "Yumiko Warm Earth" through this summer.

It is easier for me to do mindless knitting while I am with my boys. and I need to have some garments from my book for trunk shows.

I made the following garments past one month. I did a lot of knitting, at Movie theater, Community Center, side of Swiming pool and Basket Ball Coat, anyplace I can knit.
My goal was knitting about 200 yards of yarn every day.

Sometime I could not do it, but I did OK.

But, I could make any new designs in this summer. I will go back to regular schedule in a week, after my boys go back to school. I cannot wait.

I published the new crochet design today.

This shawl/wrap has two big buttons and use any space between stitches as button holes.
This can be worn asymmetrical or button it around the shoulder as below, or around neck. It is nice when it is worn, as a relaxed shape.

Easy and Simple new design " Peasantry"

Here is new knitting pattern " Peasantry".
It is very simple ( drop shoulder) ! and easy ( need to know how to CO, Knit, Purl, BO and decrease around front neck only)

Using bigger size knitting needles (size 15!) for the yarn to show the yarn's personality ( hand spun effect). also it is light and very soft. Knitted Fabric seems to be delicate doesn’t make shape as gauze fabric.

Around neck is just bonded off. Then weave I-cord around the neck line to gather around neck.

there are (61 sts) on Row 1, Row 3 and Row 7. it should be (51sts).

The sentence below Round 9 should be the follows.

These are all crochet designs. Available for your LYS and Ravelry.

Simply clover is designed for intermediate. the body part is very simple. motifs are little advanced. You can use another simple motif instead of this.

Maku is for Wrap in Japanese.

I made this for wraped skirt, but can use these for a shawl or a small blanket. It is not Granny square, has little more dimension.

Bamboo Leaf is felted pattern. It is good design for begginers.

I have been designing for individual sale ( not for book) these days.

I love my design " Mountain Layer", specially the stitch pattern around neck.

But I don't have many chance to ware that here in HOT Arizona.

So I made up front open style using same stitch pattern as Mountain layer.

It is much easier pattern, because this is no sewing project.

I also made " Breeze".

This is the same style as my design " Fall Wind".

I just wanted use different combination yarn and wanted to make sleeveless for this. and I can ware more often.

I just came home from NC.

I went to there becuase I sined an agreement with Universal Yarn company to do design for book.
when we talked about this plan, I was too excited in and could not sleep well for a couple pf weeks.
At this time, I brought some sketch and swatch for showing my design plan for book. we decieded some of them.

I will make 20 new designs for book... I am very excited.
I will be pretty busy for next one year, just design and design.

I started to design the sweater these days. I loved knitting the sweater for long time when I lived in Japan. but I stoped wearing the sweater because of the weather of Ariozona.

I went to LYS and got two kinds of yarn.

It was love at a first sight with this novelty yarn and I always wanted to try this for some project.

This yarn has three kinds of novelty yarns mixed in a ball. It has an interesting look.
I will make a knit top with them, I think.....

New knitting pattern "Dew" - 森の雫

I will publish a new knitting pattern tomorrow.
This bag is named "Dew"- Mori no Shizuku （森の雫）.

The finished size is 7 1/2"hight x 13 3/8" width x 4" depth.

There are two color choices (brown and green) in this pattern.

The different size circle motifs bump out on the surfaces and it has a very unique look. This was the result of an accident that I had before and I loved the way it turned out.

This felted bag is similler to the "Forest" bag that was published in March.

This bag is a little smaller in size with a wood handles, and there are some spaces showing the lining inside the bag.

I have a great happy news.

My felted purse is going to be in the magazine this winter. The name of bag is “The rain drop”.

It was made with the Universal yarn and it is knitting felted bag.
I cannot wait for the magazine to be in the bookstore. I will keep you informed.

New pattern "Age of Tree -年輪"

I haven't updeted my blog for long time. I was very busy designing new patterns.

I want to show a new knitting pattern that was pubblished on May. I made this bag for myself before and remade with new yarns.
This bag is named "Age of Tree"-Nenrin (年輪).

The finished size is 18 7/8" diameter and 2 3/4" depth.

Also the following bag is the original for this design what I made for myself.

I used a wood round handles for this. this is just for another idea to use instead of I-cord.

New Pattern! Forest " Mori - 森 "

I've finished writing a pattern for this bag - Forest (森).

The finished size is H: 15 3/4” x L:19 5/16” x W: 5 1/8”

I love how this bag came up so much！ I made a couple of bags that looked like this before, and I loved them. This bag is a good size for carrying yarns and knitting needles.

Now I have somebody testing this pattern to make sure there are no mistakes and are easy to understand.

One more step and it's ready to be published!

This is a knitted and felted bag, named Fallen leaf "Ochiba -　落ち葉"

The finished size is H : 8 5/8" x L: 15" x W: 4 1/3".

Autumn Leaf " Koyo - 紅葉 "

This is a crochet felted bag, named Autumn Leaf　”Koyo　紅葉”.

The finished size is H 11" x W 13" and the round base is 7 1/2 in diameter.

I used "Harmony" Yarn by Ironstone, since this yarn can be felted quickly and nicely. This bag can be used as a basket when the handle is taken off.

I am very excited about starting my company "DanDoh".

First, I would like to introduce myself. I am Japanese and I moved to America about 10 years ago.
I started knitting when I was 10 years old and I always took my small knitting bag everywhere and knitted whenever I had time. I learned how to knit by myself and occasionally went to a yarn store if I had questions.

When I was in my early 20's, I met a fiber designer at her exhibition. I met with her for a couple of years to learn how to design knitwear. I did two exhibitions in Japan and sold my hand knitwear at a store. I stopped knitting clothing when I moved to America (Arizona) because the weather was so warm. I started to learn patchwark and quilting - I love to try a lot of color combinations.

On New Year's Day, a couple of years ago, I opened my yarn box that had not been opened for several years... I asked myself why I stopped knitting? I wished I could go back to several years ago. Since then, I am really into knitting and crochet again.

I have decided to start making things I can actually use - purses!
